Common cold

Condition
What we call 'colds' these days are actually mild versions of the flu. Many years ago, there were different varieties of common cold viruses that could give you the sniffles, a scratchy throat, and sometimes a fever under 100 degrees — requiring a lowered immune system and temperature shock from damp weather to occur. Those cold viruses never created what we are up against in the present. Today, if we experience mild symptoms, we are really dealing with a mild influenza strain. When symptoms are worse, we are still dealing with influenza. Colds are no longer — flus have dominated over any strain of cold virus. Even the stomach bugs that go around are particular strains of the flu.
  • Lowered immune system / zinc deficiency: Everyone is zinc deficient, which is one reason why immune systems end up with viruses and unproductive bacteria causing harm. A lowered immune system allows flu strains to take hold. The flu often starts in the lungs, throat, and sinus cavities.
  • Flu strain mutation person to person: The flu can enter a family and each individual can experience different symptoms as the strain leaves one family member and moves on to the next. The strain mutates from person to person, plus everyone's immune system reacts differently. The last family member's flu may be very different from the first — one person may get a sore throat and runny nose for three days while the next gets a 103-degree fever with a long-lasting cough.
  • Influenza strains — not cold viruses: What people call colds these days are actually mild versions of the flu. There are no cold bugs anymore — you either have mild flu, moderate flu, or bad flu. 80% of people who think they have allergies are actually dealing with the flu. People catch flu every 3 months and it lingers, creating chronic congestion and coughing.
