Acid reflux
Most acid reflux is caused by bacteria (H. pylori, strep, staph, E. coli) producing their own acid in the stomach, NOT by the body producing too much acid. The true problem is LOW hydrochloric acid, not high. Bacteria collect in the 'stomach well' at the bottom pouch of the stomach.

Back pain
Per Anthony William (Medical Medium), chronic and mystery back pain is primarily caused by the shingles virus inflaming nerves in the back — especially the lumbar nerves (L1–L5) and sciatic nerve — rather than by structural spinal problems alone. Many people walk around with bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis yet experience no pain at all, while others with minimal structural findings suffer severe chronic back pain. The key differentiating factor is viral inflammation: when the shingles virus (one of over 30 varieties, most undiscovered) attaches to lumbar nerves and releases neurotoxins, it creates the inflammation that turns a dormant structural issue into chronic debilitating pain. Back surgery frequently fails to resolve the pain because it does not address the viral root cause.
Back pain from stress
Per Anthony William (Medical Medium), what appears to be back pain caused by stress is not directly caused by emotional stress itself but by the immune suppression that emotional stress creates. Stress — including betrayal, hardship, grief, and loss — knocks down the immune system, which allows dormant viruses (primarily the shingles virus) to become active. It is then the virus, newly activated by the immunosuppression of stress, that inflames the back nerves and creates the pain. The stress is the trigger; the virus is the mechanism.

Bell's palsy
Bell's palsy is facial paralysis caused by a specific variety of shingles virus (one of over 30 undiscovered varieties) that attacks the trigeminal nerve and facial nerves, releasing large waves of neurotoxins that saturate and inflame those nerves. This is non-rashing shingles — no visible shingles rash is required. It typically appears in people in their late 30s or early 40s as viruses have specific timelines. Medical Medium information has influenced how doctors now diagnose Bell's palsy — many now acknowledge a possible shingles virus connection. Someone can have a Bell's palsy variety of shingles and another shingles variety at the same time. In extreme cases the shingles virus can be so close to nerves that the virus inhabits or sits on the nerves. Most of the time the virus's neurotoxins alone are enough to cause the facial drooping, pain, weakness, or numbness.

Blurred vision
Blurry vision has multiple distinct causes in MM teachings: macular degeneration from antioxidant/mineral deficiency, neurological/CNS causes from viral activity and liver toxicity (worsens throughout the day), blood sugar instability from adrenal and liver dysfunction, mercury toxicity affecting the eyes, and troublemaker foods like canola oil causing myelin nerve damage.
Blurry eyes
Body aches and pains
Body aches and pains — including widespread pain in the neck, jaw, back, shoulders, feet, face, and scalp — are primarily caused by herpetic viruses (EBV, shingles, HHV-6, CMV, simplex viruses) releasing neurotoxins that inflame nerves throughout the body. The nervous system is the seat of body pain, and anything that inflames nerves produces aches. Heavy metals feeding these viruses amplify the neurotoxins released, intensifying pain. This is the hidden cause behind diagnoses of fibromyalgia, RA, Lyme disease, CFS, and many other conditions involving body pain.

Chest pain
Chest pain (and chest tightness) are caused primarily by EBV and/or shingles inflaming the vagus and phrenic nerves. The phrenic nerves run through the chest, and when inflamed by viral neurotoxins, they produce chest pain, pressure, and tightness — often mistaken for cardiac conditions or panic attacks. Viral byproduct from EBV can also reach heart valves via the bloodstream from the liver, causing cardiac-seeming symptoms. This is not a heart problem in most chronic illness cases — it is a neurological problem caused by viral activity.
Chest tightness
Chest tightness is caused by EBV and/or shingles inflaming the vagus nerve, which runs through the chest area. When the virus's neurotoxins inflame the vagus nerve — whether higher up in the brain, in the neck, or at the bottom — it creates a sensation of tightness in the chest. This is frequently misdiagnosed as anxiety, asthma, or cardiac conditions. The protocol is the Vagus Nerve Problems protocol from Brain Saver Protocols.

Cough
According to MM, a cough — especially a chronic or persistent one — is almost never allergies or a simple irritation. It is the body's response to viral and bacterial activity in the respiratory tract, combined with mucus produced to slow pathogens. Chronic cough is most often driven by low-grade Streptococcus bacteria living inside the lungs and airways, feeding on residue from eggs, dairy, and gluten. Viral activity from influenza strains also generates mucus that causes prolonged coughing. Dairy and eggs dramatically amplify mucus production, turning a short-term viral response into a lingering chronic condition.

Dental issues
Depersonalization/Derealization
Detox symptoms
Detox symptoms are the natural, expected physical responses the body produces when it begins releasing stored toxins. According to MM, true detox symptoms are mild and manageable — they are signs the body is healing, not signs of sickness. True detox differs fundamentally from a viral flare, immune crash, or adverse reaction to supplements or cleansing powders. Understanding the difference is critical to safely navigating any cleanse or dietary change.

Edema
Mystery swelling often related to toxic, overburdened liver with viral infection.
Edema and Swelling
Mystery edema and swelling that cannot be explained by an obvious heart or kidney condition is caused by a stagnant, sluggish liver battling low-grade viral infection and overburdened by a high-fat/high-protein diet. The liver becomes unable to filter toxins adequately, causing the lymphatic system to become overloaded. The lymphatic system then draws in more fluid to dilute the toxic sludge it cannot process, creating a cycle of fluid retention. The water of water retention is not clear — it is a pus-like, opaque fluid filled with viral byproduct and toxins. This same mechanism, when severe, leads to tissue expansion: toxins deposited into connective tissue, joints, and organs cause everything to gradually widen and thicken over the years.

Frozen shoulder
Frozen shoulder is not an orthopedic injury or mechanical problem — per Medical Medium, it is caused by the shingles virus inflaming and attacking the nerves of the shoulder, causing the shoulder to freeze up for anywhere from a month to a year or longer. This is original Medical Medium information that medical communities do not yet recognize. The condition is frequently misdiagnosed as infectious bursitis, rotator cuff injury, or a structural tear, and is sometimes treated with unnecessary surgeries. Antibiotics prescribed for the misdiagnosis only serve to strengthen the virus. The shingles virus can cause frozen shoulder without ever producing a visible rash, making it virtually undetectable by conventional medicine.

Gastritis
According to Anthony William, gastritis is caused by bacterial overgrowth — specifically bacteria (not fungus, yeast, or Candida). Food poisoning is one of the most underrecognized triggers: it attacks the stomach lining, depletes hydrochloric acid, and allows bacterial strains like Streptococcus, H. pylori, and others to rise up and inflame the intestinal walls. Gastritis is distinct from and more severe than what conventional medicine used to call 'gas.' Streptococcus strains are a primary driver of mild-to-moderate gastritis, especially when the liver is stagnant and HCl is depleted.

Lower back pain (mystery)
Per Anthony William (Medical Medium), lower back pain — particularly when it is chronic, recurrent, or unexplained by clear structural pathology — is most commonly caused by the shingles virus (one of over 30 varieties) or Herpes Simplex virus entering the lower spine and inflaming the nerves there. The pain may be constant or come and go periodically as the virus shuttles between its hiding place in the liver and the lower spinal nerves.

MS Symptoms
Common symptoms that occur with MS or MS-like conditions.
Mucus in the stool
Multiple sclerosis bloating
Muscle cramps
Neurological symptom caused by viral neurotoxins inflaming nerves. When EBV and other herpetic viruses release neurotoxins into the nervous system, electrical signals misfire in the brain and travel incorrect pathways through neurons, creating involuntary muscle contractions — cramps and spasms. Physical injury can also create nerve weakness that viruses exploit. Caffeine withdrawal is a separate mechanical cause: muscles become reliant on adrenaline surges from caffeine and begin spasming as they lose that stimulus.
Muscle fatigue
Muscle pain
Muscle spasms
Neurological symptom caused by viral neurotoxins inflaming cranial nerves and the brain. When neurotoxins saturate neurons, electrical impulses short-circuit and misfire, causing involuntary muscular spasms throughout the body. Classified as a Cranial Nerve Inflammation presentation in Brain Saver Protocols. Also triggered by caffeine and adrenaline withdrawal, as muscles that have become dependent on adrenaline-mimicking substances begin spasming when deprived of them.
Muscle stiffness
Muscle weakness
Neurological symptom caused by viral neurotoxins interfering with nerve signals to the muscles and limbs. EBV and other herpetic viruses release neurotoxins that compromise the brain's ability to send clear electrical messages to the arms, legs, and muscles — creating weakness, a sandbagged feeling, inability to perform normally despite having muscle mass. Classified as a Cranial Nerve Inflammation presentation in Brain Saver Protocols and as part of the Neurological Symptoms grouping in Cleanse to Heal. Distinct from physical muscle atrophy: a person can have full muscle mass and still experience this neurological weakness. Also associated with thyroid strain from EBV damaging hormone production.

Nerve pain
According to Medical Medium, nerve pain (neuralgia) is caused by viral activity — specifically the herpetic family of viruses, primarily the shingles virus and herpes simplex 1. These viruses release neurotoxins as waste matter that travel to and inflame nerve tissue, producing burning, shooting, stabbing, or electric-shock sensations. Nerve pain can occur in any part of the body wherever a virus has settled into nerve tissue: the face (trigeminal neuralgia), jaw, gums, tongue, neck, shoulder, chest, back, legs, feet, and the pelvic region (pudendal nerve pain). Toxic heavy metals — especially mercury, aluminum, copper, nickel, and lead — serve as fuel for the viruses, amplifying neurotoxin production and making nerve pain more severe and harder to resolve. Medical science does not yet recognize this true viral root cause of nerve pain and continues to classify many nerve pain conditions as mysterious, autoimmune, or idiopathic. Medical Medium first published the viral cause of conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathy, Bell's palsy, and pudendal nerve pain years before mainstream medicine moved in this direction.

Nervous system sensitivity
Nervousness
Neuralgia
Per Medical Medium, neuralgia is nerve pain caused by viral inflammation of nerve tissue — specifically from herpetic family viruses including the shingles virus and herpes simplex 1. Neuralgia is not a stand-alone disease but a symptom of active viral infection of nerve fibers. The virus produces neurotoxic waste matter that is highly allergenic to nerves, creating burning, stabbing, or electric-type pain along nerve pathways. Neuralgia can be localized (trigeminal neuralgia, sciatic neuralgia, pudendal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia) or diffuse. The same viral and heavy metal root cause that drives neuropathy drives neuralgia. Recovery requires removing viral food sources, taking antiviral supplements, and binding and eliminating heavy metals.

Ovarian cysts
Ovarian cysts are caused by one or more of the over 60 varieties of Epstein-Barr virus combined with toxins. During Stage 2, EBV can select the ovaries as a nesting place. As the immune system attempts to block viral growth, it creates cysts with the virus trapped inside living on blood vessel supply. Viruses and toxins in relationship — virus consumes toxins, releases more destructive compounds, injuring cells that form into living scar tissue (cysts).

Perimenopause symptoms
According to Medical Medium, perimenopause and menopause symptoms are NOT caused by aging, hormonal decline, or menopause itself. The true causes are EBV in the liver, a stagnant sluggish liver full of decades of toxins, toxic heavy metals, and radiation exposure. Before the 1950s, women felt BETTER during menopause — more energy, less weight gain, better cognitive function, no hot flashes, more libido. The epidemic of severe symptoms coincided with radiation and pesticide exposure becoming widespread.

Restless leg syndrome
Per Medical Medium, restless leg syndrome (RLS) is not a single condition but a cluster of distinct disorders sharing the same symptom of irresistible leg movement, itching, tickling, or vibrating sensations — especially at night. The true causes are neurological and viral in origin and will not appear on MRI, making it a persistent medical mystery in conventional medicine. There are four primary Mystery causes: (1) Shingles virus neurotoxins — the shingles family virus nesting in connective tissue around the lower spine or inside the liver, releasing neurotoxins that inflame the sciatic nerve and other leg nerves; when the virus feeds off heavy metals (especially lead and copper), these heavier neurotoxins settle specifically in the lower back, legs, and feet. (2) Toxic heavy metal deposits in the brain — mercury deposits in specific brain regions (e.g., the right lobe) where electrical impulses try to navigate around the blockage, causing a tickle or movement sensation in the legs especially when the brain quiets during sleep. (3) Intestinal tract problems — gas bubbles and food moving through an inflamed colon hitting diverticulitis pits and inflamed areas (from old E. coli or Streptococcus), sending nerve signals down to the lower body. (4) Liver dysfunction — a sluggish, overheated, virus-laden liver causing nerve spasms and sending distress signals to the legs, often waking people around 3 AM. MSG deposits in the brain from long-term MSG consumption can also create restless leg symptoms. Many people have multiple causes simultaneously.

Shortness of breath (also called breathing difficulty or dyspnea) has multiple root causes per Medical Medium: neurological asthma from viral inflammation of the vagus nerve and phrenic nerve, contamination of the bronchial tubes with irritant particles trapped in mucus, viral mucus buildup clogging the lymphatic system and reducing oxygen exchange, and high dietary fat reducing blood oxygen. Chemical sensitivities involving neurotoxins from pathogens on sensory nerves can also trigger sudden shortness of breath.

Strep throat
Per Anthony William, strep throat is caused by one or more strains from over 50 groups of Streptococcus bacteria. Strep commonly lives in the lymphatic system and tonsils, and can surface to the throat. Many people carry strep in their bodies (gut, intestinal tract, lymphatic system) for decades without realizing it. A doctor's throat culture often cannot detect which strep group is present, and many times strep goes undetected even though it is causing a sore throat. Strep bacteria can become antibiotic-resistant. Conventional medicine attributes strep to bacteria only, but MM reveals strep also rides on the back of the Epstein-Barr virus.

Swollen lymph nodes (also called swollen glands or lymphadenopathy) are caused by the lymph nodes fighting pathogens — primarily the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Streptococcus bacteria, and other herpetic viruses. The lymph nodes are the primary battleground where the immune system tries to destroy EBV. MM also identifies zinc deficiency and a burdened, stagnant liver as critical underlying factors that prevent the lymphatic system from doing its job.

Tingles and numbness
Mystery tingles and numbness throughout the body are caused by viruses — primarily Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), shingles, or herpes simplex — that feed on toxic heavy metals like mercury and release viral neurotoxins. These neurotoxins inflame nerves throughout the body, including the vagus nerves, phrenic nerves, and peripheral nerves in the extremities. A stagnant, toxic liver can also do periodic 'spills' of accumulated metal neurotoxins that float through the body and settle in the extremities.

Tremors
According to Medical Medium, tremors are a neurological symptom caused by toxic heavy metals and viral activity in the nervous system. The primary causes are toxic heavy metals (especially mercury, aluminum, copper, and lead) in the brain and central nervous system, and viral neurotoxins released by herpetic viruses (particularly EBV and the shingles virus) as they feed on those metals. The heavy metals cause oxidative corrosion that disrupts electrical impulses in the brain and nervous system, producing tremors, tics, and spasms. Viruses like EBV and shingles feed on mercury and release highly toxic mercury byproducts that cling to the vagus nerve and phrenic nerves, causing tremoring. Tremors may also be mistaken for blood sugar problems because eating can temporarily relieve them (when the body's viral activity fluctuates with glucose availability). The Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie is the foundational recovery tool for tremors because it removes the metals that are driving both the direct electrical disruption and the viral neurotoxin production.
Trigeminal neuralgia
Trigeminal neuralgia is severe facial pain caused by viral inflammation of the trigeminal nerve. Per Medical Medium, shingles is the primary cause (one of over 30 undiscovered varieties), with herpes simplex 1 now causing close to 50 percent of cases. Severe cases may involve both viruses nesting inside the trigeminal nerves. The virus releases neurotoxins as waste that are extremely allergenic to nerve tissue, creating debilitating pain. The shingles virus camps out in the liver, then launches to different areas of the body including the jaw. No visible rash is required — the virus is entirely internal and stealth. Millions have had teeth drilled, root canals, or extractions because the pain is mistaken for a dental problem, but since the cause is viral the pain persists. Called 'a beast' because it can be so debilitating that people cannot work or function. Medical Medium published the viral cause years before mainstream medicine acknowledged it.

Vagus nerve problems
Vagus nerve inflammation is caused by viral neurotoxins and toxic heavy metals. EBV, shingles, herpes simplex, and HHV-6 release neurotoxins that saturate and inflame cranial nerves. There are TWO vagus nerves, not one — most experts don't know this. They are structured like grapevines, branching from the brain stem through the neck, chest, and down to the stomach. No MRI or brain scan can detect this inflammation. Vagus nerve exercises DO NOT WORK and can make things worse.
