Herpetic Viruses

Condition
  • Human Herpesvirus (HHV) 6, 7, 8: Multiple varieties of HHV-6, HHV-7, HHV-8.
  • Undiscovered HHV-9 through HHV-16: Multiple varieties of the undiscovered HHV-9, HHV-10, HHV-11, HHV-12, HHV-13, HHV-14, HHV-15, HHV-16.
  • Herpes simplex virus (HSV) 1 and 2: Over 100 varieties of herpes simplex virus 1 and 2.
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV): Over 20 varieties of cytomegalovirus (all but one undiscovered).
  • Shingles virus: Over 30 varieties of shingles (all but one undiscovered).
  • Epstein-Barr virus (EBV): Over 60 varieties of EBV (most of them undiscovered). Many people walk around with low-grade infections without knowing it because detecting them is beyond the capabilities of current medical testing.
