Liver disease
ConditionPer MM, liver disease is a spectrum condition that progresses through stages: pre-pre-fatty liver, pre-fatty liver, sluggish liver, fatty liver, and eventually liver disease with fibrosis, cirrhosis, and failure. The liver performs over 2,000 functions including processing toxins, producing bile for fat digestion, storing glycogen, filtering blood, neutralizing poisons, and housing the immune system. Modern medicine catches liver disease only at advanced stages — the early stages are invisible to all current blood tests, imaging, and biopsies. MM estimates 95% of people's livers in the US alone are shot, stagnant, sluggish, or fatty.
Important Notes
- CRITICAL: If someone has liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis C, or a liver on the edge of failing, adding salt to water risks liver shutdown or failure. The liver uptakes the sodium and it shocks it — potentially causing liver failure. The mineral salts in fruits and vegetables are the safe form of sodium for the liver.
- If someone has liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis C, or a liver on the edge of failing, drinking a glass of water with salt risks liver shutdown or failure due to sodium shock
- High fat and high protein diet: A diet too high in fat and/or protein for too long is the primary dietary driver of liver disease. This includes keto, carnivore, high-fat vegan, and paleo diets. When the bloodstream is chronically filled with fat, the liver cannot release poisons and toxins on a daily basis. Fat prevents the liver from cleansing. MM: 'You can get a fatty liver on a high fat vegan diet just as easily as on carnivore.'
- Alcohol: Alcohol directly damages the liver. Even casual daily drinking — two or three drinks to unwind — burdens the liver chronically. MM recommends taking alcohol-free days to give the liver a break. Alcohol is a direct toxic load for liver tissue.
- Caffeine: Caffeine puts a hamper on livers, making them stagnant and sluggish more so than they would otherwise be. Every coffee consumed is an injury to the liver. Caffeine forces the liver to work harder to process it while simultaneously overloading the adrenal-adrenaline cycle that then floods the liver.
- Seed oils and industrial vegetable oils: Canola oil, cottonseed oil, corn oil, and other processed seed oils burden the liver. These oils are highly processed, contain chemical residues from extraction, and are difficult for the liver to process. Restaurant food is saturated with these oils.
- Dairy products: Dairy clogs the bloodstream and stresses the liver. Residue from dairy is stored in the liver for extended periods. When viruses inside the liver feed on this stored residue, they produce waste products that further inflame and damage liver tissue.
- Eggs: Egg residue is stored in the liver. Viruses feeding on egg residue stored in liver tissue produce neurotoxins and inflammatory byproducts. This is a significant contributor to liver disease that is not discussed in conventional medicine.
- Toxic heavy metals: Mercury, aluminum, and copper accumulate in the liver. Viruses like EBV feed on these metals, producing neurotoxins. The liver stores heavy metals as a protective measure to keep them from damaging the brain and other organs. Over time, this storage burden damages liver tissue. Copper is particularly significant — excess copper in the liver feeds EBV varieties that cause psoriasis, eczema, and liver inflammation.
- Perfumes, colognes, scented candles: Perfumes, colognes, air fresheners, and scented candles contain chemical compounds that go directly into the liver. Even carpet cleaning chemicals, insecticide sprays, and environmental exposures saturate into the liver. The liver must deal with all environmental chemical exposures, not just food.
- Pesticides, herbicides, DDT: Pesticides, herbicides, DDT, and other agricultural chemicals accumulate in the liver. Cucumbers eaten daily can reverse liver damage from 10-15 years of toxic exposure including heavy metals and DDT. These chemicals must be processed by the liver and are stored in liver tissue when not eliminated.
- Old pharmaceuticals: Pharmaceutical residue — including antibiotics, antidepressants, and other medications — is stored in the liver. Normal antibiotic use as a child can result in a weakened liver by the late 20s without adequate detox support.
- Plastics and petrochemicals: Plastics and petrochemical byproducts accumulate in the liver. Plastic film and residue build up inside organs including the liver, coating cells. Cleansing is critical to rid plastics from the liver before they cause illness.
- Adrenaline overload: The liver acts as a sponge to soak up excess adrenaline floating in the bloodstream. When adrenaline becomes toxic, the liver absorbs it to protect the brain. Intermittent fasting releases large amounts of free radical adrenaline that the liver must process, overburdening it over time. Chronic stress and caffeine addiction force continuous adrenaline release that floods the liver.
- Viral pathogens (EBV, shingles): Viruses — particularly Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and shingles — get into the liver and feed on copper and other heavy metals stored there. EBV varieties that take up residence in the liver cause inflammation, congestion, and progressive liver damage. This is a key driver of autoimmune liver conditions and many chronic liver problems that have no explanation in conventional medicine.
