Overactive bladder (OAB)

Condition
  • Bugs: Caused by bugs/bacterial infections
  • Streptococcus infection: Chronic inflammation of the bladder due to low-grade infection from one or more of the over 50 groups of streptococcus bacteria
  • Chronic inflammation of the bladder is due to a low-grade infection, either in years past or present, from one or more strains of the over 50 groups of Streptococcus bacteria and/or a virus such as one or more of the over 60 varieties of Epstein-Barr. Normally both a virus and bacteria are present in combination, working with each other in the same environment: neurotoxins that the virus releases can irritate the lining of the bladder while bacteria nestle themselves into the bladder lining, both causing inflammation at once.
  • Neurotoxin buildup in kidneys and on pudendal nerve: EBV and other viral neurotoxins leaving the liver get into the kidneys, building up inside them and on the pudendal nerve. This sensitizes the nerve such that the constant urge to urinate is actually inflamed, sensitized nerves — not a full bladder. Per Brain Saver: 'The bladder can start to become sensitive and overactive from neurotoxins building up inside the kidneys and bladder and/or on the pudendal nerve.'
  • EBV toxins: Epstein-Barr toxins coming out of the liver get into kidneys, causing pudendum nerve and other nerves around bladder to get inflamed
  • OCD brain mechanism activates: Overactive bladder frequently has an OCD (obsessive-compulsive) component where the brain becomes locked into the pattern of needing to urinate even after the bladder is empty. Medical research and science do not know that OAB can be neurological in this way — that the symptom is sensitized nerves, not a physical bladder problem. This is why GABA and melatonin are uniquely effective: they help break the OCD cycle.
  • Neurological component: Sensitized pudendum nerves and other nerves around bladder - feeling like you have to pee constantly is actually sensitized nerves
  • Strep scar tissue in bladder lining: Streptococcus colonizes the bladder lining and eventually creates scar tissue with little divots and pits in the bladder lining. This leads to constant, chronic irritation and OAB. Bacteria nestle deep into the bladder lining rather than just colonizing the surface.
  • Shingles virus nerve inflammation: The shingles virus can inflame the nerves in and around the bladder, including the pudendal and sciatic nerves, causing overactive bladder symptoms that are neurological rather than structural. This is distinct from strep-caused OAB.
  • Viral-bacterial combination: Usually both virus and bacteria are present working together - neurotoxins from viruses irritate bladder lining while bacteria nestle deep in bladder lining
