Swollen lymph nodes
Symptom- Environmental toxins accumulating in lymphatic system: Air fresheners, synthetic fragrances, scented candles, cologne, perfume, pesticides, herbicides, cleaning chemicals, and other environmental toxins burden the lymphatic system directly. These chemicals go into the liver and lymph, and when the system is already stressed by viruses, the added toxic load causes lymph nodes to swell.
- Herpetic viruses (HHV-6, HHV-7, and undiscovered HHVs): Beyond EBV, other herpetic viruses — HHV-6, HHV-7, and the undiscovered HHV-10 through HHV-16 and their subgroups — sit in the liver and migrate into the lymphatic system over time. They create viral mucus in the lymphatic channels, causing backup and swelling of lymph nodes throughout the body.
- Sarcoidosis (EBV in lymphatic system and organs): Certain varieties of EBV focus on the lymphatic system rather than the nervous system. As the virus advances, virus cells attack and inflame lymph nodes around the lungs, heart, liver, and neck, creating swelling and scar tissue throughout the lymphatic system — this is what leads to sarcoidosis.
- Epstein-Barr virus (primary cause): EBV is the primary cause of swollen lymph nodes. The lymphatic system is EBV's target number one — the virus enters the lymphatic system and attacks the lymph nodes, which triggers the lymphocytes to fight back, creating swollen glands. This is why children with mono (which MM identifies as EBV) get swollen lymph nodes. MM states that what is commonly called 'mumps' in children is actually undiagnosed EBV/mono — the swelling is lymphatic EBV inflammation, not the mumps virus.
- High-fat diet blocking lymphatic function: Excess dietary fat from animal products (chicken, beef, turkey, pork, eggs) and even plant fats (too many nuts, seeds, coconut oil) reduces oxygen in the blood and bogs down both the liver and lymphatic system. When fat is high in the bloodstream, lymphatic fluid becomes thick and sluggish and lymph nodes cannot adequately drain or fight pathogens.
- Streptococcus bacteria: Strep (multiple mutating varieties) can chronically colonize the lymphatic system and contribute to swollen lymph nodes. Strep is often misidentified or missed on standard tests. It feeds on certain foods and is resistant to antibiotics, requiring natural antimicrobials like cat's claw and thyme to address it.
- Stagnant, overburdened liver: The liver and lymphatic system are best friends — a dirty, stagnant liver directly impairs the lymphatic system's ability to clean itself. When the liver is overloaded with viruses, toxins (heavy metals, pesticides, air freshener chemicals, pharmaceutical residues), or excess fat from a high-fat diet, it stops filtering properly and dumps waste back into the lymphatic system, causing persistent swelling. 'If your liver's dirty, your lymphatic system can never clean up.'
- Zinc deficiency: Zinc deficiency is described by MM as 'the lymphatic system's worst nightmare.' White blood cells — the fighters inside lymph nodes — rely primarily on zinc. When zinc is depleted (partly due to DDT and pesticide contamination of soils globally), the lymphatic system cannot do its work of killing pathogens, and lymph nodes swell and remain swollen. DDT in soils worldwide has decimated zinc levels in our food supply. A few drops of liquid zinc sulfate daily can protect the lymphatic system.
