SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth)
ConditionSIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) should really be called 'Small Intestinal Streptococcal Overgrowth' because the primary pathogen behind it is streptococcus — not a generic mix of bacteria. Medical science does not yet know this. The name SIBO is misleading because it implies general bacterial overgrowth when it is specifically strep that colonizes from the mouth all the way to the rectum.
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth - actually caused by streptococcus bacteria overgrowth in the intestinal tract, not a generic bacterial issue.
Important Notes
- Antibiotics empower strep - strep gets smart, wise, immune to antibiotics and can mutate and get stronger
- Antibiotics must NOT be used for SIBO. Antibiotics empower strep — the bacteria gets smart, becomes resistant, mutates, and grows stronger. Each antibiotic course that does not fully eliminate strep allows the surviving strep to become more resistant and more entrenched. Many patients got permanently worse from antibiotic SIBO protocols. The strep can hide in liver pockets, feeding on old antibiotic residue, and emerge even stronger later.
- Eggs: Bacteria feeds off of egg, eggs are used in labs to keep bacteria alive
- Streptococcus: Bad streptococcus causing SIBO
- Bacteria: Bugs that get behind SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)
- Streptococcus bacteria: Caused by streptococcus bacteria in the gut, hundreds of undiscovered strains exist
- Fat buildup: Fats build up and give us SIBO when liver can't produce enough bile to break down fats
- Streptococcus bacteria: Fed by eggs in the gut, causing bloating and digestive issues
- Canola oil: Feeds bacteria in the gut, causing SIBO - overload of bacteria growing in guts, usually streptococcus
- High-fat, high-protein diet overwhelming bile capacity
- Low hydrochloric acid unable to kill strep before it reaches intestines
- Low hydrochloric acid: Missing pieces of the seven-blend hydrochloric acid allows bacteria to survive in the stomach and travel throughout the digestive tract
- Strep infection: Most likely caused by strep infection in the gut. Strep dominates in people's guts and causes the most problems.
- Antibiotic use from childhood strengthens strep: Most people with SIBO took antibiotics during childhood for strep throat, ear infections, or other common illnesses. Each round of antibiotics killed off weaker strep strains but allowed the stronger, more resistant strep to survive and grow. Over years and decades, this antibiotic-resistant strep becomes increasingly entrenched in the gut, eventually creating SIBO. This is why antibiotics for SIBO make it worse — strep becomes even more resistant.
- One or more strains from the over 50 groups of Streptococcus bacteria residing in the small intestinal tract and colon, feeding on putrefying, decayed proteins and rancid fats that have lined the walls of the gut. Troublemaker foods such as eggs, milk, cheese, butter, and gluten can feed the strep bacteria, allowing it to proliferate. SIBO often accompanies a liver and lymphatic system that have become weakened, sluggish, and stagnant due to toxin overload and a high-fat/high-protein diet. Someone with SIBO has a very good chance of having a history of acne, sinus infections, UTIs, yeast infections, bladder infections, strep throat, bloating, or acid reflux—any of which might have been treated with antibiotics that allowed the strep that survived the antibiotics to strengthen over time and make a home in the gut and throughout the body. Streptococcus can contribute to low hydrochloric acid and low bile production.
- Past antibiotic use creating antibiotic-resistant strep
- Rotting protein: Protein doesn't break down good due to weak hydrochloric acid, rots in the small intestinal tract and feeds SIBO
- Low hydrochloric acid: SIBO especially occurs when you have low hydrochloric acid and low bile reserves
- Streptococcus: SIBO is antibiotic-resistant streptococcus, not just an overgrowth of bacteria
- Strep bacteria: SIBO is caused by strep bacteria - they never talk about what bacteria creates SIBO but it's strep
- Streptococcus: SIBO is caused by streptococcus - that's the bug that causes SIBO
- Streptococcus: SIBO is caused by streptococcus bacteria as the dominating bacteria inside people's guts
- Streptococcus bacteria: SIBO is dominated by streptococcus bacteria in the small intestinal tract
- Strep: SIBO is mostly strep. Strep is the dominant bacteria that creates SIBO. Chronic strep that camps out in the small intestinal tract.
- Antibiotic-resistant streptococcus: SIBO is mostly streptococcus that's been in someone's system, they've taken antibiotics through childhood, strep got stronger and overgrew
- Streptococcus overgrowth: SIBO is overgrowth of streptococcus, not just general bacteria overgrowth as science believes
- Strep bacteria: SIBO is strep overgrowth in the intestines. The bacteria colonizing is streptococcus.
- Streptococcus: SIBO is streptococcus bacteria overgrowth from mouth to intestines, result of gut rot from sluggish liver
- Strep bacteria is transmitted from childhood: SIBO-causing strep often originates in early childhood, passed from parents or picked up easily in daycare, kindergarten, and elementary school. This early strep exposure, combined with subsequent antibiotic treatments that strengthen rather than eliminate it, sets the stage for SIBO decades later.
- Strep: Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is actually strep in the gut
- Streptococcus: Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is specifically caused by streptococcus bacteria - the dominant strain that takes over
- Streptococcus: Strep bacteria in the intestinal lining is what gives you SIBO and bloating
- Strep bacteria overgrowth in small intestine
- Streptococcus: Strep becomes SIBO when it gets antibiotic resistant over the years from childhood antibiotics
- Strep bacteria: Streptococcal bacteria is the front runner behind SIBO. This is strep that starts in childhood and can be passed from parents or picked up easily in daycare, kindergarten, school
- Streptococcus bacteria: Streptococcus bacteria causes SIBO
- Streptococcus: Streptococcus bacteria in the gut that will end up giving you a SIBO diagnosis
- Streptococcus bacteria is the leading cause (not general bacteria)
- Seven-blend HCL deficiency allows strep to survive: The stomach produces a complex blend of seven different acids — not just one form of hydrochloric acid as science currently believes. When certain components of this seven-blend HCL are low or missing (even if overall HCL seems normal), strep bacteria can survive the stomach and travel into the small intestinal tract. This explains why some people who appear to have adequate HCL still develop SIBO.
- Toxic heavy metals: Toxic heavy metals help grow and overgrow streptococcus, causing SIBO
- Undigested fats going rancid in intestines, feeding pathogens
- Weak bile production from sluggish liver
- Rancid fat: Weak bile salts can't break down fats, they go rancid and feed bacteria creating SIBO
- Flu and respiratory illness trigger SIBO flares: When someone with gut strep gets the flu or a respiratory infection and takes antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection (e.g., pneumonia), the strep in the gut becomes more antibiotic-resistant. This can trigger or worsen SIBO. The flu-related antibiotic course empowers the strep that was already camping out in the intestinal lining.
