Tomatoes have been vilified in the health movement for decades now— vilified due to misinformation about tomatoes. The problem with tomatoes is that people eat tomatoes wrong, and when tomatoes are eaten wrong, they may pose some annoyances. It’s not that the tomato itself is a problem. It’s what is usually eaten with tomatoes that poses a health risk. People often have tomatoes with cheese, gluten-rich bread and pasta, butter, and even eggs. The complaints that people blame on tomatoes are usually joint aches and pains, arthritic issues, and body swelling. These are symptoms that generations have had consistently for years, regardless of whether a tomato was ever eaten around the time of their symptoms or not. Tomatoes don’t cause any of these symptoms. Pizza has been one of the most defining comfort foods of modern-day history, and the tomato contributes greatly to this comfort.
